How To Use Different Types Of Flour

  • All purpose flour:

    • This is a blend of hard- and soft-wheat flours.

    • The combination allows it to be used in all types of baked goods, as well as for thickening.

     

  • Self-rising flour:

    • This is an all-purpose flour that contains added leavening and salt.

    • It may be substituted for all-purpose flour in quick bread recipes, but the salt, baking powder, and baking soda must be omitted.

     

  • Cake flour:

    • This is a flour made from softer wheat.

    • It us used for making tender, delicate cakes.

 

  • Other types of flour include whole wheat, rye, and buckwheat flours.
