Mother's Spoon Bread Recipes

Ingredients:

 

2 cups scalding hot milk

3/4 cup cornmeal

2 tbsp molasses

4 eggs, separated

 

Method:

  • Cook cornmeal in the milk, adding sugar when thickened to the consistency of mush.

  • Cool and add egg yolks one at a time with beating.

  • Fold in stiffly beaten whites.

  • Bake in oiled baking dish for 30 minutes at 350oF.

  • Serve hot with melted margarine or butter.
