Oatmeal Bread Recipes

Ingredients:

 

2 cups boiling water

1/2 tsp sea salt

2 cups rolled oats

1 yeast cake

1/2 cup lukewarm water

1 tbsp butter

1/2 cup molasses

5 cups whole grain flour

 

Method:

  • Add the boiling water and sea salt to the oats and let stand 1 hour.

  • Dissolve the yeast in warm water

  • Add it to the oats and mix in the other ingredients.

  • Knead in enough flour to make a smooth dough.

  • Leave it in the refrigerator, preferably overnight.

  • When ready to bake, remove from refrigerator, knead it down, and let it rise.

  • Knead it down again and form it into loaves.

  • Let these rise again and then bake them at 375oF until they are brown.

  • The dough may be baked in muffin form if desired.
