Healthful and Natural Piecrust Recipes

Ingredients:

1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour

1/2 cup white, unbleached flour

pinch of vegetized salt

4 tbsp vegetable oil

2 tbsp boiling water

 

Method

  • Sift flour before measuring.

  • Mix flour and vegetized salt.

  • In a separate bowl, mix the oil and boiling water together with a fork.

  • Add to the flour and mix with the fork to form a soft ball.

  • Turn at once into a warm pie plate.

  • With your fingers, press out the dough to cover the pie plate, bringing it up the sides to the rim and fluting the edge.

  • This makes a tasty, crisp crust and can be filled and baked or stabbed and baked for a pie shell.
